We host casual monthly member sessions for classical guitarists of all abilities to perform to a friendly group of peers.
Several times a year, we are joined by professional guitarist, Brad Johnson, who runs technique workshops and provides feedback on our performances.

Classical piano and violin were my primary instruments until Spanish classical guitar came into my life. I fell in love with the poetry of the instrument, its gentle command of space and breadth of expression.
Having just returned to London after 5 years studying languages and literature at St Andrews, it was a real treat to discover the WiGS community.
WiGS to me is a cherished space for musical and artistic joy, challenge, engagement and enlightenment. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to share the language of classical guitar with such a diverse group of people who share the same passion.

I began playing guitar as a child when the local guitar teacher convinced my parents I should form part of his new studio of young musicians to support his own children as they picked up the instrument. As luck would have it, the guitar turned out to be not just my first instrument but also my favourite, keeping me company as I worked my way through school, entered university, and eventually moved to the UK.
In addition to putting on concerts rich with talent and society events that are always great fun, WiGS has given me the opportunity to continue playing for other guitar enthusiasts, for which I am incredibly grateful.

Professional Guitarist/Teacher
From just six years old I learned the Kayagum, a traditional Korean instrument. But I fell in love with the guitar which made me curious about the unknown world and, despite my mother’s sad face, brave enough to escape North Korea, where Western music was forbidden.
I came to London, to study for a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Music Performance at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and where I intend to live and die one day with my guitar.
WiGS membership is truly wonderful: I no longer feel alone, but part of a family. I am deeply encouraged and motivated by the many members who share the same passion for guitar. Life becomes more beautiful when we are surrounded by beautiful people.

Guitar Festival
The Play2 festival offers young guitarists a unique, fully funded opportunity to participate in workshops, ensemble sessions, and professional concerts in Armenia each July.
WiGS Artistic Director; Guitar, Mandolin
Brad is our Performance Coach and Artistic Director. He is an award-winning guitarist and MA with Distinction and DipRAM graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, with performance experience across major concert venues and festivals, and studied with Stephen Goss, Michael Lewin, Craig Ogden, David Russell, and Fabio Zanon.
Luthier
With a preference for hand tools and freehand techniques, Nick crafts his guitars in his South London workshop, located above the studio of his sculptor wife, Almuth Tebbenhoff. Nick honed his craft with skilled mentors such as Nick Pyle, Pete Howlett, Mike Hobbs, Richard Osborne, and Pablo Requena.

WiGS Membership gives you access to:
Member Sessions - where guitarists of all abilities play to each other. Professional guitarist, Brad Johnson, joins us several times a year to offer coaching and feedback.
Advanced Classes (by invitation only) - where professionals, conservatoire graduates and amateurs of a high playing standard perform and offer feedback to each other, with a limited audience.
If you'd like to be part of WiGS but don't want to play at sessions, you can join as a Community Member for £20 per year.
This gives you access to social events and free observer attendance at Member Sessions, subject to space (and excluding ticketed events: the Advanced Classes and all concerts).
